Evolution : from Universe to societies
Objects and concepts

In 2009 we organized a foresight workshop on the theme of evolution of matter (from stars to species and ecosystems) , whose primary objective was to create a new interdisciplinary community interested in the evolution of some "objects" ( Universe, stars, planets, living systems, societies) and by the "concepts" underlying the notion of evolution, and then to show how the theory of evolution is a particularly robust scientific model whose field of application transcends broadly the framework of species.

From 2010 to 2015 we organized on average 2 seminars a year to analyze the concepts underlying our perception of evolutionary dynamics since the formation and evolution of the Universe (galaxies, stars, planets, and our Earth) to the evolution of social systems, including the emergence of life and its evolution on Earth.

Séminaires

The results of these meetings were published in October 2015 at Editions Matériologiques , as a book of 700 pages whose objective is to show, through the many discoveries on the evolutionary mechanisms for 150 years (from astrophysics to biology), how the concepts of information, historicity, chance/necessity/determinism, self-organization, emergence and evolution may be different or complementary depending on the object being studied (Universe, stars, planets, living systems, individual, society).
